A Few Things To Know Before A Nashville Harpeth River Kayaking Experience

By Catherine Wright

There is nothing quite like spending some time on the river. Nashville Harpeth river kayaking is not exactly a passive activity. Much fun is involved, and it is not possible to enjoy all this while seated the way you would in a taxi. Spending time here makes you feel refreshed and invigorated. The gentle exercise, the sunshine, and the tranquility of being with nature renew you.

As the day for the trip approaches, you will be feeling anticipative. Everyone loves it when they have something to look forward to. That being said, the excursion requires a bit of preparation. The first thing you do is to make your reservation. Then, you need to get some appropriate clothing. You must buy tops, shorts, some socks, and a headband. The band serves no real purpose, but every boat rider wears them.

Perhaps, you will be spending the whole weekend kayaking. You might expend a lot of energy, and people will need to eat at some point. Plan lunch. The taste of every person is different, but if you will be on the trip with others, it helps to pack items everyone will enjoy. Candy bars, sandwiches, potato salad, and trail mix are some of the food items you might pack.

You will get yourself wet through this experience. Plus, some locations along the route might turn out to be quite cold. You could be kayaking deep between high, imposing walls of rock. The air down there is naturally heavy and cold. You must still remember what you learned in school, that dense air descends to the bottom while light, warm air goes up. Carry some hot drinks.

It is supposed to be an adventurous trip. During such trips, anything can happen. Boats capsize, sometimes. That is the reason you need to carry only those things that would not bring your life to a stop if you lost them. Forget your phone since water seems to like them a lot. If you must take those photos as the fun gets chaotic, ensure to carry a spare phone for the instance.

Most likely, there will be a lot of sunshine. This naturally throws a glare on the surface of the water, which can make your eyes hurt. Do not bring along your designer frames unless it would not pain you to lose them. If you need prescription glasses, ensure they remain fastened to your head. Otherwise, bring the usual sunglasses.

Before you get into the boat, you are advised to put on a life jacket and a helmet. You might not like how you look in these kinds of clothing items, but you need to heed the advice of your guide. Someone could fall into the river, and these pieces will ensure they are safe before you fish them out.

Accidents are not something you expect. You want to stay upbeat and positive all the time. However, they are known to happen to happy people like you when they are excitedly cruising down a beautiful river like Harpeth. Sometimes, there are hard rocks beneath the surface, and you could hurt your head or legs if you fell out and collided with them. It is recommended that you thrust your feet forward and let them meet the rocks first.
