There are various people who might not be happy with the shape or size of their noses. The nose is a central organ when it comes to ensuring there is a balance of facial structure. That is why people opt for surgical procedures to reshape the noses, so that they find the alignment that they seek. For the residents of Houston rhinoplasty is a critical procedure which should be professionally done. One should also know what the treatment involves.

While the treatment is very complicated, there are some limitation as to the extent to which alterations can be made. The result of treatment depends on age of a patient, size of the nose and skin condition. There should be very clear communication between a patient and the surgeon before the procedure. The patient should have realistic expectations from the treatment. That is because the treatment might not solve social and emotional problems.

There are a number of reasons why people consider the procedure. One of the main reasons patients consider the surgery is for cosmetic purposes. People may want to change the tip of the nose because it is too wide, lacking in definition or round. You can also go for the procedure for medical reasons. That is in case there is injury to the nose, in which case the nose might be bent forward or broken. People with breathing problems will also benefit from the treatment.

The procedure is performed either from within nostrils, a type called rhinoplasty. The other option is open rhinoplasty whereby a small cut will be made on the nose, which is followed by elevation of the nose. The procedure that is used will depend on nose area that should be treated. There are some cases where surgery can be performed as an NHS procedure. In such cases, it is used for reconstructive surgery to improve breathing difficulties.

As regards the time, it takes about 2 hours. That however depends on the type of procedure used. After treatment is done, you will spend one or two nights in hospital. You will not be required to get back to work until after two weeks. It is only then that you can resume lighter duties. In addition to that, exercising will only be restricted to exercises that are not very strenuous.

Most closed rhinoplasty operations will take two weeks or so to start healing. You should not expect any scarring but in case the nose was broken as part of surgery, there will be some noticeable bruising around eyes for 10 days or so. Common effects experienced after surgery are memory lapses, slow reaction time and impaired judgment. It will be advisable to have someone stay with you for a few days after surgery.

When it comes to outcome of the procedure, the slightest of changes to the nose is able to greatly improve appearance of a person. The changes might not however in some instances. When that is the case, your surgeon may recommend a second surgery to improve on the already-experienced changes.

Just like is the case with other forms of surgery, there are possible risks. These include bleeding, adverse reaction to amnesia and infections. There are also people who may experience permanent numbness around the nose and difficulty breathing.
