Canoe River, Yours For The Taking

By Elizabeth Barnes

Anywhere in the United States or maybe even the world, Tennessee has been known for being the home of country music because of Nashville. That is understandable because the place is really where country superstars are mostly found and bred. Not to mention that it is by far the largest city in the famous state.

Thus, the place had rightfully earned the moniker Music City. What with performances in the CMAs and every other cowboy having a go at the bars famous for housing superstars that started humbly in the big city. But that is not all it has got to offer. There is also canoe Harpeth river which is sometimes overshadowed by all the music scene going on.

You would also do well to remember that its outdoors has a lot to offer. The country songs are a given but that is not all there is to it. You have to enjoy the entire place for what is is worth. If the holiday is a day or two too short, then dodge the Blake Shelton sightings for a while. You can save that for other days.

Even on the streets, the songs will never end from morning until night. This one is something different, and for good reason. It is also one fine way of making the most of your whole trip there. Imagine a sunny and lazy afternoon just gliding in that river with the sights and sounds all for you to hear and behold.

It will be better if you level up your vacation doing something out of the ordinary like canoeing. Strip your boots and go barefoot so you can paddle your way into the waters. There is no better way of spending a vacation there than this. There is always an opportunity to experience other things.

You have to discover if the water is where you being for recreations first. Sometimes, you can be compatible to it and sometimes you cannot hold your own. When the oars become a bit challenging. Take it lightly at first. After all, you are here for a vacation, not a race. And besides, it would not be too much fun if you cannot glide smoothly while enjoying your view of the city.

What a shame that would be for you. The river ca be harsh and mysterious in a good and bad way. That is why it is better if you remain on the ends that are shallow enough for comfort. Do not turn a pleasant and wise recreation into some sort of mishap which you can avoid.

If you are alone, then you can get the hang of it, by taking control of the oars for about an hour or two. That should be enough for an afternoon, and you will not regret it. It is not one ordinary ride so do not expect it to be as cheap as being in the carnival. But then it will be worth it, when you realize how smoothly you can make your way in the water.

It does not come that cheap because it is just not any ride. You will have to spend some and risk it if you want to get that rare sense of adventure there. There is not much to loose and so much to gain, by the freedom you get to have in this alone.
