The Importance Of Hockey Lesson Plans To A Teacher

By Virginia Reynolds

Keeping records of what one has taught is very important for a tutor. There are documents that each and every trained teacher ought to have, so as to keep track of what has been taught and what would be taught. These documents should be written even by games teachers. An example of the document is hockey lesson plans which has the following advantages to the trainer.

Time management is very important to a tutor. Lesson planning will help the teacher to manage his or her time during the session. He will know when to introduce the session and when to conclude it. This document is written in a way that each and every activity is given a fixed time period that is supposed to take. This helps the trainer in managing the little time he or she has with the students.

Preparation for a lesson also guides the tutor in knowing the materials he is supposed to carry, and this will make the lesson enjoyable both to the students and the teacher. In this case, a teacher may decide to carry the games kit or a book if they would either be going to the field or learn the theory part of the game.

A lesson plan contains all the activities to be done in class in an orderly manner. This will make teaching very easy and enjoyable because the trainer will only teach what he or she is prepared for. The lesson will also flow hence the students will be able to follow the activities step by step making learning more interesting.

If a teacher gets sick, and he is not able to meet his duties as a teacher, a substitute teacher may be called to replace the previous teacher. A lesson plan will guide the new teacher to know what has already been covered and the remaining topics to be covered. This will enhance the smooth transition from one teacher to the other.

By the end of a lesson a teacher always seeks to achieve some goals. A lesson plan has a section where objectives are highlighted, and the teacher focuses on achieving the objectives. Hence, the lesson will be enjoyable both to the teacher and also to the training group. Having goals to achieve in mind will also help the teacher to only focus only on the highlighted subtopic.

Human always forgets, teachers are also human, so they may also forget what they have covered with the students. The program provide the information needed; they will show what has been covered and if the objectives were achieved or not. Mostly if the trainer is training more than one group, he may find it hard to remember each and every group activity to be covered.

Planning also helps the trainer to prepare tests that are suitable for the training group. It may not be fair for a teacher to test on topics that he or she has not covered. A trainer is also supposed to check the areas that his or her students are weak or strong after performing an evaluation or formative evaluation.
