7 Best Hockey Drills Practice Skills

By Brian Bennett

Players need to be fit all the time. They thus need to practice regularly so that they do not get surprised on the playground. Winning a championship is almost impossible when you have not trained or practiced enough. Therefore, ensure that you have attended all the Hockey drills before you set out to the field. If you are not a dedicated player, be sure that you will not win the competitions. Hence, make sure you are aggressive and ready to practice. The following are some of the practice techniques that you can adopt.

When you want to shoot, do not shoot as if you are doing it for the sake of it. Make sure you take mighty and clear shots. Use all your strength and aim at scoring. Even if you start feeling some pangs of fear, it is advisable to be calm, relax then shoot. Ignore everyone else and shoot as if you are alone in the field.

Always ensure that you accelerate towards the net. Do not glide what you are about to give your best shot. What you are required to do is add more strength and accelerate towards the net. By so doing, you will not have to use so much strength in your upper part of the body. More so, the short will be unpredictable and will come off the stick with ease.

When you are doing the drills, watch other players who are playing with you in line. Do not let them distract you. Studies show that watching other players do the kick is like you are doing it yourself. This means that you will fire the kicks with lesser intensity in your motor neurons. This is the best time to watch out the mistakes that other players are doing.

Even if there is no one in front of you, make sure you add a few moves when you accelerate towards the net. Add some intensity and drive wide. Protect the pluck and do everything you usually do when you are in a game even if you are alone. This will make you a better player.

Creativity is paramount in this kind of game. Playing plainly can be boring, and it will not push your body to the limit. Hence, ensure that you have challenged yourself in all ways possible so that you can lose your pluck. When this happens, it is a good indicator that you are pushing your body to the limit.

When you are practicing, this is the perfect time to ask your trainer to clarify the things that you do not understand. Do not be afraid or become too proud to ask. This is because the coach is there to help you. Thus, you can ask these trainers anything that may not be clear to you.

Always be aggressive when you are practicing. If you let up during practice, this can be so disappointing for you and your teammates. Hence, make sure you are aggressive during training so that you can form a better team if you intend to win the championship.
