Procedure For Using A Pelvic Pain Cushion

By James Scott

Cramping around the groin can be so uncomfortable making a person unable to go about his daily activities. The discomfort can be caused by either falling, tumors, fractures, giving birth or dislocations. When the cramps become severe, pelvic pain cushion can work well to reduce the pangs. More so, the pillow is designed in a way that it reduces pressure around the pelvic region.

It is normally advisable to take the pillows with you to any place that you go. This is because this treatment needs consistency to work. For this reason, you can either buy different bumpers which you will in your car, workplace and home for convenience. Either way, you can use the same pillow everywhere provided you remember to carry it every morning.

Always ensure that you have sat on a chair that has a back. Use the pelvis bumper in the chair to give you extra support. This pillow works very well in improving your posture as it elevates your hips slightly. Therefore, a chair with a back will help you to sit upright and eliminate pressure in your groin and pelvis.

When using the buffer, do not place it on top of other pillows. If you place it on other pillows, it can make you sit unevenly. Thus the pressure will also be unevenly distributed leading to more pain in your groin. You can place the pillow flat or make it to slightly slant for better support.

Hot packs and the ice packs are also very useful in relieving cramps as they act like cold or hot therapies. When they are used in combination with the pillow, they tend to relieve pressure very fast thus you can heal faster. You are however required to consult the doctor before you use them and always clean the bumpers for better hygiene.

In case your bumper does not give you the support that you need, you can do away with it and get a new one. If the buffer was made of soft foam and you feel that it is not sturdy enough, ensure that you have ordered a new custom-made pillow that will be made of foam that is denser thus it will support more firmly.

Buying a good bumper can prove to be a bit difficult thus you should ask your physician for assistance. There are many designs of the pillows for different pressure reliefs. For the groin or pelvis discomfort, the recommended designs are both the U-shaped and the V-shaped. There are also some bumpers with the shape of a doughnut, but they do not work well with groin pain.

These pillows can be found in local pharmacies or stores that supply surgical items. They are however a bit expensive thus one should have enough money to acquire them. Alternatively, you may decide to search them online as they can be cheaper compared to the physical stores. Ensure that you, however, select the one that will be most suitable for you.
