Surfing Lessons Nyc Success Is More Than Just Having A Longboard Surfboard

By Kenneth Jones

You must be excited for your first ever surfing lesson, well who wouldn't be? Finally, the time has come for you to get on that surfing board and hit the waves. It can't be that difficult for someone who is passionate and very eager to learn like you, it's as easy as ABC. If you are already enrolled in a surfing course then that is good, here are a few more things you can expect when you go on your surfing lessons nyc.

One. Push-ups. OK, do I really have to put myself through a personal boot camp before going surfing? No, but light training will help come lesson day! Most new surfers are amazed how muscles they never really have worked in different activities become sore from surf. If you have some time leading up to your surf lesson in Del Mar, some basic upper body strength will help you pop up to the standing position much easier.

Ask them what their instructor to student ratio is? How many students will each instructor have in the water to take care of and teach? The less students per instructor, the better. This means you will have more interactive time with your instructor to fix your mistakes and speed up your learning.

Three. The evening before or the day of Del Mar surf lessons, we recommend eating a light meal. Leading up to most of any exercise, a heavy meal typically is a bad idea. Del Mar is full of great options for food whether it be some tacos at the Brig, a long list of options around the Del Mar Plaza, or some food and ambiance at Burlap.

Wetsuits and rash-shirts - Will they be supplied by the school. It's worth asking. There is nothing worse than wading or paddling in the water while your freezing you butt off. THe shivering and shaking won't motivate you to stay in the water and give your 100% on standing up on the board. If not then try another surf school.

Let's get in on.- The first step is not hitting the water right away. In your first surf lesson, you will be asked to do some paddling in the sand first and pretend that you are in the water. This may sound strange but that's how you learn, everybody went through this process and believe it or not it's beneficial once you hit the water. You will also practice lying on your surf board and jumping up into a crouched position. You teacher will also teach you some easy style techniques that will give you a strong foundation.

Five. Be ready to get wet. Sounds funny right? At Del Mar surfing lessons, many times vacationers come to a lesson mentally unprepared to submerge their head underwater. Instructors will always try to limit your wipeouts and waves crashing into you by techniques such as lifting you over waves. However, wipeouts happen. They are fun. Embrace the idea of you going underwater, getting splashed in the face and all round having fun.

Pack up.- Okay, the day is almost ending and so your first surf lesson. Now it's time to return your equipment and head back to school with your friends and teacher. What a day right? I'm sure your muscles will be aching the next day, but it doesn't matter at all, because as the saying goes "no pain no gain."
